 WORKSHOP :SHAKESPEARE'S DAY  

The Argentinean and British Community in Cuyo ( ABCC)  and Yes! English Institute, from Mendoza, Argentina, carried out a workshop to celebrate Shakespeare's day with members of ABCC, students from Yes!  and  local people. The aim of this event was to  share  Shakespeare's impact in British culture and all over the  world.  

Shakespeare’s impact on British culture is vast and multifaceted. Here are some key aspects :

  • Language & Expressions: He introduced hundreds of words and phrases still used today, like wild-goose chase and fair play.

  • Theater & Performance: His plays are a cornerstone of British theater, regularly performed in venues like the Globe Theatre and at the Stratford-upon-Avon Festival.

  • National Identity: His works reflect British values, humor, and storytelling traditions, shaping the country’s cultural heritage.

  • Education & Literature: His plays are essential in British education, studied in schools and universities for their literary depth.

  • Historical Influence: His works capture the political and social climate of Elizabethan England, offering insights into the era.

  • Global Reach: His influence extends beyond Britain—his plays have been translated into 80 languages, including Klingon.

Shakespeare’s legacy is alive and evolving, inspiring modern literature, film, and even everyday speech.
